Dear Upcoming Third Graders,
We’re so glad to have this opportunity to recommend some fun reading for this summer. Please read one book from the non fiction list and one book from the fiction list. You will then complete an information card for each book. Your information cards are due on the first day of school. Also, when you arrive at school in August you will be taking an interactive assessment on one of the books. We will choose which book you are going to be assessed on. You may also choose to read an extra credit book from either list, and complete an information card for that book. These books are ones we’re sure you will enjoy.
At the bottom of the book list are titles of novels that we are going to read throughout the year. If you have already read them, you will have special insight when we talk about them in class. If you have not read them, please wait so we can read them together.
Remember, the key to good reading is to have fun. Have a wonderful summer with your family and friends. We’re looking forward to getting to know you in the fall. We will have a great year!
Sincerely,
Ms. McCoy and Ms. Parliment
