REMINDER: THE PALMER CHILDREN’S MASS WILL BE ON TUESDAY,
FEBRUARY 19TH AT 8:30 AM DUE TO THE PARISH MISSION. THERE WILL NOT BE A CHILDREN’S MASS ON
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22ND.
STUDENTS MUST BE IN MANDATORY UNIFORM.
Parish
Mission: OLSS will host a Parish Mission
beginning Sunday, February 17, through Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at 7:00 pm
in the church. A special Children’s
Liturgy will also be offered each evening for grades PreK-4 through 5th
grade. Free babysitting will be provided
for children 4-years old and younger. The
school will be celebrating Mass on Tuesday, February 19th
at 8:30 am instead of Friday, February 22nd. So mark your calendars now and plan to bring
the entire family! What a lovely way to
start our New Year by renewing our faith.
More details will be announced soon.
Lunches: During Lent season, Friday’s hot
lunch with Domino’s Pizza will only be serving cheese pizza.
Parents:
Ø Supporting parishioners are defined as those families that are registered
Catholic parishioners of Our Lady Star of the Sea parish. Please be aware that contributions to the
parish must be through the use of offertory envelopes, with your family name,
made to the first collection of the Mass.
Ø Absences: The parent/guardian should call
the school with the reason for the absence before 8:20 am. If the teacher reports a child absent, and
the office has not received a call notifying the school of the absence, the
office staff will call the parent/guardians to verify the absence. (page 9 in the parent/student handbook)
Ø If your middle school student needs to contact you, they will be given a
message from the front office that will be posted on the middle school message
board. It is then their responsibility
to check the board and come to the front office to make their phone call. Students are no longer allowed
to use the phones in the classrooms or lunchrooms.
Ø If your child(ren) are
participating in a school related function away from the school, they must be
picked up by an approved driver. Please
contact the front office to verify that the driver who is picking up your child is approved.
Ø Our lost and found is overflowing!!
If your child has misplaced his/her P.E. uniform, fleece, lunchbox or
school uniform, please take a minute to check the upstairs cafeteria.
Don’t
Forget to Purchase Your Yearbooks! The 2007-2008 Palmer Yearbooks have been
ordered. If you did not pre-order your
yearbooks, there are still some available for $40.00. Please send your order forms in with your
payment to the office. More order
envelopes are available in the office.
Yearbooks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. 8th Graders will be given
priority.
Book
of the Month: The book of the month
for February is Somebody Loves You, Mr.
Hatch by Eileen Spinelli. The theme of this book is love and
kindness. This book gives us a clear
idea of what kindness can do for a person and how it can change his/her
life. It is the perfect book to follow
last month’s theme. What a great lesson
to our students that if we all try and reach out to everybody (even those that
we are not sure about!) we may just help someone realize their worth!
Altar
Servers: Altar servers are needed for the
OLSS Parish Mission on Sunday, February 17th at 7:00 pm and on
Wednesday, February 20th at 7:00 pm.
If you are an altar server and would like to volunteer, please email
Mrs. Achatz at sk_achatz@hotmail.com. Wednesday is a full Mass. On Sunday, altar servers are only needed for
the procession and recession with candles and the cross.
Italian
Dinner Night: Hold the date! This year’s Italian Dinner night will be held
April 15th in the Cultural Center.
Our first planning meeting will be on Friday, February 22nd
at 9:00 am in the Browning Center. Please come and help us plan this wonderful
school and parish fellowship event! It
is guaranteed to be a fun family night!

Golf & Tennis Classic, to be held at Jax Golf

our parish-based peer ministry for fellowship and prayerful support in your journey
as mothers. A Spring

through May 7th. Please join
us to learn, share and realize the sacredness of yourself through M.O.M.S. Please call Laura Linn at 280-6949 or email LML356@bellsouth.net for more information.
Bishop
Kenny News: As a reminder to all 8th grade
parents, Bishop Kenny will be sending a representative to Palmer Academy next
Thursday. They will deliver and discuss
the application, course catalog and course selection form with your students. Should you have any questions once your child
brings those materials home, please contact Bishop Kenny at 398-7545.
St.
Joseph Academy: Have
you chosen the BEST high school for your son or daughter? St. Joseph Academy is the BEST choice because
we prepare our students extremely well for life and for college. 100% college acceptance for the past 7 years
speaks for itself. We prepare our
parents to assist their young adults with college decisions and email our
parents scholarship opportunities throughout the senior year, which may be why
the Class of 2007 earned over $31,ooo in scholarship
monies per capita. SJA students have
strong transcripts for college, made of core academic courses, Advanced
Placement courses and Dual Enrollment courses.
Don’t take a chance with these crucial high school years. Contact the Admissions Office now at
