Town
Hall Meeting: Tonight, October 25th at 6:30 pm
in the Cultural Center, Monsignor Logan and the School Board Chair Person, John Bottaro, will be
speaking on issues that concern our school. So please come out to support Palmer and
familiarize yourself with the issues at hand.
Children’s
Mass: Due to the Holy Day of
Obligation, Palmer Catholic Academy students will attend mass on Thursday,
November 1st. Please drop
your child/children off at church by 8:30 am.
Students must be in mandatory uniform.
There will not be a children’s mass on Friday, November 2nd.
Book
of the Month: The book of the month
for October is Pie in the Sky by Lois Ehlert. The theme of this book is the appreciation of
life and God’s gifts.
Thank
you! Many, many thanks for
the amazing Italian Style luncheon that Mrs. Gonzalez and her group of moms
provided for the staff. It was
thoroughly enjoyed by all!
Parents:
Ø All students are required to attend mass on Friday’s. If for some reason your child/children do not
attend mass, we ask that they are not dropped off at the school
before 9:50. There will be no one at the
school that can supervise your child/children.
Ø The 5K race committee is looking to borrow generators and tents to use on
the day of the race, February 2, 2008.

Tuesday, October 30th to take individual school photos. 8th grade students: boys must wear a dress shirt and tie; girls
must wear church appropriate attire.
Mandatory uniform is required of every other student!! (Grades K-4 girls must wear the school
plaid jumper and white peter pan collared blouse. Grades 5-8 girls must wear the school’s plaid
skirt with a white oxford blouse. Boys in
grades K-8 must wear navy trousers and a white oxford shirt).

Fair Blizzard Volunteers: We asked for a storm of volunteers, and we got them. All volunteer positions have been
filled. Thank you! We’ve sent home today in the Red Folder a
spreadsheet to all scheduled volunteers.

Fair Countdown: Only one month until
the Blizzard of Books hits our school.
Please mark your calendars to attend our Family Event on Wednesday,
November 28th from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm. This celebration of reading features books,
games, events and photo opportunities.
You won’t want to miss it.
Pizzas
& Diapers: The OLSS Respect Life
committee is holding a diaper drive for Emergency Pregnancy Services. EPS is a crisis pregnancy center associated
with St. Vincent’s Hospital. We are
asking for donations of size 1 and 2 diapers.
The diapers will go to new mothers with financial hardships. The class who brings in the most diapers will
receive a pizza lunch. Please bring your
diapers to school by Monday, October 29th.

John Lazzara, has recently established an orthodontic
practice in South Jacksonville Beach.
October is National Orthodontic Health Month, and in recognition, Dr. Lazzara is offering a 10% discount for all Palmer families

Girls
Volleyball: For those girls in 4th
thru 8th grade interested in trying out for volleyball, there will
be a clinic on Wednesday, October 31st and Thursday, November 1st
from 3:00-4:15 pm. Tryouts will then be
on Friday, November 2nd from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Students must have a sports physical on
file to tryout.
Dad’s
Workday: Palmer will have a
dad’s workday on Saturday, November 17th from 8:00 am to 12:00
pm. Please contact Ed Birk @ 373-6876 if you can help.
Christmas
Program: Our annual Christmas
presentation by the Palmer Choir, Orff and Drum Ensemble will be Thursday,
December 13th at 7:00 pm in the Cultural Center. Please come and hear our amazing students
perform!
HSA:
Ø Angel Ball: Please continue to
sell your raffle tickets. We also
encourage you to buy your tickets for the event on Saturday, November 3rd. We have several fun surprises in store that
evening! If you have an item you’d like
to donate, please contact Jen Watson at 280-1799. Jaguars’ tickets, salon items, weekend
getaways are needed!
Ø Save the Date: The 5K Run/Walk will
be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008. Please
continue to seek sponsorships for this event.
Ø Palmer Classic: The Palmer Golf &
Tennis Classic will be held at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club on Monday,
March 31, 2008. Start thinking about
your foursomes!
Blue Angel Yearbook Update: Celebrate your child’s
special year at Palmer by purchasing an ad in the Blue Angel Yearbook. Cost ranges from $50 to $100, depending on
the ad size. Contact the front office or
Mrs. Pisacano for more information. Deadline is December 1st. There is limited ad space in the yearbook, so
don’t delay!
Join The Yearbook Team—A great way to earn service hours is to
volunteer with the Blue Angel Yearbook.
We have several opportunities (all of which can be easily completed at

Wednesday, October 31st, the Environmental Club will be sponsoring a
Dress Down Day to benefit our new “butterfly
garden.” The cost will be $1.00. Students should wear green. No costumes please!!
