Registration: Please keep in mind that in
December, all currently enrolled families will be asked to register for the
2008-2009 school year. Registration
forms will be sent home the first week of December and the form and
registration fee will be due back by December 14th to secure your students’
spots for next year. Registration
priority will be given in the following sequence. 1. Current students of
the school/siblings of current students/students of school employees. 2. Preferential option
for Our Lady Star of the Sea parish preschool, Little
Stars Preschool. (All siblings will be considered, but siblings
coming from Little Stars will get first choice). 3. Supporting
parishioners of Our Lady Star of the Sea parish. 4. Catholic families
relocating to our parish from out-of-town continuing a Catholic
education for their child(ren).

Book
of the Month: The book of the month
for November is Knots on a Counting Rope by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault. The
themes of this book are families, traditions, Native Americans and perseverance
despite obstacles.
Parents:
Ø Due to the in-service on Monday the 12th and meetings
scheduled for this Friday, interims will be given out next Friday, November
16th instead of Tuesday, November 13th.
Thank
you: An enormous thank you
from Habitat for Humanity for the extra Halloween candy that was donated this
week. They were thrilled!! It will really come in handy for their after
school programs and Thanksgiving baskets.
Book Fair Countdown: It is less than three
weeks until the Blizzard of Books hits our school. Please mark your calendars to
attend our Family Event on Wednesday, November 28th from 4:30 pm to
7:00 pm. This celebration of reading
features books, games, events and photo opportunities. You won’t want to miss it.
Dad’s
Workday: Palmer will have a
dad’s workday on Saturday, November 17th from 8:00 am to 12:00
pm. Please contact Ed Birk @ 373-6876 if you can help.
Art News: Thank you to all the
families who contributed detergent lids to our art room. We have plenty and do not need
any more at this time. As the year draws
to a close we can recycle your outdated calendars and add the pictures to our
ever-growing “Idea Bank” in the art room.
Feel free to send them in with your child to his/her art class. Thank you!
Blue Angel Yearbook Update: Celebrate your child’s
special year at Palmer by purchasing an ad in the Blue Angel Yearbook. Cost ranges from $50 to $100, depending on
the ad size. Contact the front office or
Mrs. Pisacano for more information. Deadline is December 1st. There is limited ad space in the yearbook, so
don’t delay!
Join The Yearbook Team—A great way to earn service hours is to
volunteer with the Blue Angel Yearbook.
We have several opportunities (all of which can be easily completed at
home). Contact Mrs. Pisacano

Scrip News: The Christmas season
is here! For most of us that means
running all over town buying gifts for family and friends. Make this season a little easier by
purchasing Scrip gift cards. The Scrip
program will run from November 12th to December 10th this
year. Order forms will be in the red
folder soon!
HSA:
Ø Thank you to all of our families who participated in the success of the
Angel Ball/Auction. Right now, it looks
like we will net $85,000! We will
provide a detailed update once all the numbers are in. Ornaments will be on sale outside the
Cultural Center on Friday, November 16th. Congratulations to the Higdon, Soler-Sala and Foley families on winning the raffle cash
prizes that evening.

Ø We are seeking families to loan tents and generators for the Palmer 5K
race. If you have either of these items,
and don’t mind loaning them out on the day of February 2, 2008, please contact

Ø SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY!! We
need volunteers to stuff Festival of Lights 5K race packets downtown on 11/19,
11/20, 11/26 and 11/27. If you are

Ø We are looking for families to sponsor a bounce house for post race
Family Fun. If you are interested,

Bishop
Kenny News: Bishop Kenny wishes a
safe and relaxing 3-day weekend to all of the Palmer Blue Angels. This coming Monday the BK Band and NJROTC
students will be participating in the Veteran’s Day Parade in downtown
Jacksonville. It should be a great time
had by all and a wonderful event.
St.
