Registration:  Please keep in mind that in December, all currently enrolled families will be asked to register for the 2008-2009 school year.  Registration forms will be sent home next week and the form and registration fee will be due back by December 14th to secure your students’ spots for next year.

Registration priority will be given in the following sequence.

1.       Current students of the school/siblings of current students/students of school employees.

2.      Preferential option for Our Lady Star of the Sea parish preschool, Little Stars Preschool.

(All siblings will be considered, but siblings coming from Little Stars will get first choice).

3.      Supporting parishioners of Our Lady Star of the Sea parish.

4.      Catholic families relocating to our parish from out-of-town continuing a Catholic education for their child(ren).

Book of the Month:  The book of the month for December is The Crippled Lamb by Max Lucado.  The theme of this book is that God has a plan for us all.  It may not be obvious at first, but if we have faith, it will be revealed to us.  Look for your gift – it’s there!

 

Parents:   The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, is planning a visit to America in April.  Bishop Galeone will be attending the Papal ceremonies; therefore, 8th grade Confirmation has been rescheduled to Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at 7:00 pm.

 

Picture Re-Take Day:  Leonard’s picture re-take day is Wednesday, December 5th.  Individual portraits will be taken of students that were absent or wish to have a re-take of their school picture.   If you have already received a school picture, you must turn it in when you get your re-take.  Additional order forms will be available in the front office if you need them.  Leonard’s will also be taking group club pictures, group sports team pictures and candid classroom pictures; therefore, all students must be in mandatory uniform. 

 

Crazy Christmas Cap Day – Thursday, December 6th !! – Student Council is sponsoring a fundraiser where you can wear your favorite Christmas hat to school along with your uniform.  The Crazy Christmas Cap Day will be on Thursday, December 6th.  For a $1.00 donation given to your homeroom teacher in the morning you can wear your craziest cap to school and show your Christmas cheer!!

 

Music News:  Our annual Christmas Concert is Thursday, December 13th at 7:00 pm in the Cultural Center.  Please come out and support the members of the music clubs as they perform some of your favorite Christmas songs.  Members of the orff ensemble, drum ensemble, junior chorus and senior chorus will be featured.  You will not want to miss this evening of Christmas joy, peace and cheer!

 

National Junior Honor Society:  The National Junior Honor Society Ceremony will be Tuesday, December 4th at 7:30 pm in the OLSS Cultural Center.  (PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE)  The dress code will be:  Boys – slacks, dress shoes, collared shirts, (ties optional).  Girls – dresses, skirts or dress pants (no capris, gauchos or shorts).  Inductees are required to bring a plate of cookies or brownies for the dessert table.  Returning members are required to bring two bottles of soda, lemonade or punch.  Guests are welcome to share in this special night!

 

 

 

 

Blue Angel Yearbook Update:  Celebrate your child’s special year at Palmer by purchasing an ad in the Blue Angel Yearbook.  Cost ranges from $50 to $100, depending on the ad size.  Contact the front office or Mrs. Pisacano for more information.  Deadline is December 3rd.  There is limited ad space in the yearbook, so don’t delay! 

 

HSA:

Ø  Please see the flyer sent home regarding handmade ornaments.  Every child in the school made one.  If you did not purchase yours at the Angel Ball or at the Cultural Center on Friday, you still have two options.  Send in a check ($10 each) and we will send your ornaments home thru the backpack, or opt not to purchase and we will donate the ornaments to the school/church.  The deadline is December 3rd.

Ø  5K Run/Walk – The next 5K meeting is scheduled for December 10, 2007 at 7:00, pm in the Cultural Center.  For more information, please contact Kate Warnock @ 280-0741 or Lisa Dilworth @ 591-6877.

Ø  We are seeking families to loan tents and generators for the Palmer 5K race.  If you have either of these items, and don’t mind loaning them out on the day of February 2, 2008, please contact Joe Hoff at 463-4070.

Ø  We are looking for families to sponsor a bounce house for Post Race Family Fun.  If you are interested, please contact Sharon Elias at 829-9996.  Note:  This can be a shared expense!  If you’d like to make a contribution to the race for items that will be shared during the Post Race Family Fun activities, please contact Lisa Dilworth @ 591-6877.  Many of these items can be shared among families and your name will be displayed at the race.

Ø  Palmer Golf & Tennis Classic – JG&CC – March 31, 2008.

 

Scrip News:  The Christmas season is here!  For most of us that means running all over town buying gifts for family and friends.  Make this season a little easier by purchasing Scrip gift cards.  The Scrip program will run through December 10th this year.  Order forms were sent home in the red folder and are available in the front office.

 

Coffee cans:  Miss Parliment is collecting large coffee cans for a Catholic Schools Week project.  If you have any empty coffee cans please send them in to the front office.  Thank you.

 

Bishop Kenny News:  This is a reminder to all Blue Angel Girls’ Basketball Players that this Friday is Grade School Basketball Night at Bishop Kenny.  All Palmer girl players are invited to attend the BK girls’ basketball game against First Coast High School.  JV starts at 6:00 pm and Varsity begins at 7:30 pm.  Player admission to both games is free with giveaways occurring that night.

Going Green:  Our butterfly garden was completed this week.  Many, many thanks to Andrew Pisacano and his troop.  The garden is absolutely beautiful!
